Breakdown of money generated by Asante Kotoko under Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management
The management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has revealed that they have been able to generate a whopping amount of GHC28.7 million for the team.
This, according to the management led by Nana Yaw Amponsah, exceeds the amount demanded by the Board of the team to be generated at the end of their three-year contract.
The management of Kotoko, at the end of their three-year stay in the club, was tasked to raise a total amount of GHC15 million, which translates to GHC5 million each year.
But while explaining the sources of the money generated in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM, Mr David Nyarko, a member of the management team, listed the sources of money generation by the club. Sponsorship deals gave them GHC13.5 million, player transfers gave the team a total of GHC9.2 million, and gate proceeds gave Kotoko GHC1.7 million.
Participation in tournaments, according to management, generated GHC1.1 million, Fabu Census generated GHC670,000, and money generated during the COVID period from supporters gave the team GHC600,000.
Money generated from winning the GPL league and their participation gave the league GHC400,000. Friendly matches gave the team GHC250,000, and government support generated GHC1 million.
Sales from replica jerseys generated GHC300,000.
“As I speak, the management backed by our Board, we have been able to make GHC28.7 million. We have exceeded our target by GHC13 million, and revenue is still coming,” Mr David Nyarko told Kwame Tanko on the show “Angel in the Morning”.
