Ghana Health Service begins investigation into stealing and selling of Covid Vaccine

The Ghana Health Service issued a statement on March 20 following the three individuals who are have been remanded by court for stealing and selling the Covid-19 Vaccine.

The Ghana Health Service is therefore beginning an administrative inquiry into the matter.

“The Service condemns such alleged criminal act in no uncertain terms. An administrative inquiry is being instituted and appropriate sanctions shall be applied if they are found culpable. The Service commits to cooperate with the security agencies to unravel the circumstances leading to this illicit act.”

The three persons include – Stephen Dzisenu who is a Disease Control Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital is said to have stolen 36 vials of COVIDSHIELD, Joseph Knight Gaisie, a Project Assistant and a former Laboratory Technician at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital and Cosmos Allotey, a 42-year-old Occupational Health and Safety Officer, is said to have received the stolen COVIDSHIELD from Pabitey and Dzisenu and administered at gh¢200.00 per jab. 

The three (Dzisenu, Gaisie and Allotey) are currently in lawful custody by an Accra Circuit Court to reappear before court on April 1.
