I’m senior to you all – Dampare jabs COP Alex Mensah et al

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, says he will be 33 years in the Ghana Police Service in December.

He said he has risen through the ranks to become a Commissioner of Police (COP), at a point the senior most, and later the IGP when the then IGP retired.

As a result, he stressed that he was senior to all those accusing him of mismanaging the Service.

“I started as a Constable and within 24 years, I became a Commissioner of Police. That is unprecedented

“I am senior to all my colleagues seated here,” he stressed.

IGP Dampare made this known on Tuesday, September 12 when he appeared before the bi-partisan parliamentary committee set up by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to look into a leaked audio recording which had voices of some officers and politicians plotting to remove the IGP.

He described the three previous witnesses as his brothers.

He said the Commissioner of Police (COP), George Alex Mensah, is his senior brother, Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, his kid brother, and Superintendent George Lysander Asare, his brother.

He said he even promoted Supt. Eric Gyebi when he became IGP.

For him, their allegations are unfounded and they only wanted to cover for their shame.
