NPP lost the 2024 elections in 2022 – Ken Agyapong

Flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kennedy Ohene Agyapong says it will be a mistake for delegates to vote for a different aspirant on Saturday, November 4, when the party elects its 2024 Presidential Candidate.

He said the NPP will not escape opposition if delegates do not give him the nod.

According to him, the ruling party lost the 2024 elections as far back as 2022 when Ghanaians advised themselves over challenges such as depreciation of the Cedi to the US Dollar, revision of bond dividends and haircuts on pension funds.

“I am boldly and confidently telling you today that if you vote and make the mistake not to vote for Ken Agyapong, opposition is just staring at you because Ghanaians have decided.

“In the 2024 elections that we are going to, NPP lost that election in 2022,” he reiterated.

“Why? When the Cedi dropped and businessmen all the way to tomato sellers lost monies, Ghanaians decided.

“When the middle class had bonds taken for 15 years, they decided. When pensioners lost monies, they decided.

“Anytime, there will quiet in the country and Ghanaians do not talk, then they have decided already.”

The Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) made this known on Saturday, September 16 when he addressed hundreds of supporters after a healthwalk at Ayi Mensah in the Greater Accra Region.

Dubbed ‘Showdown Unity Walk’, the exercise was to rally support for Ken Agyapong as vies to lead the NPP into the 2024 elections.

Addressing the supporters in Twi, he said Ghanaians are waiting to vote for only one man in the NPP and that is him.

“I will beg of you, there is one man in NPP that Ghanaians are saying, if you give him the nod, we are going to vote for him and that is Hon. Ken Agyapong.

“Ghanaians are willing to give Hon Ken Agyapong opportunity to lead this country because as an ordinary member, companies that I have established, the number of Ghanaians that I have employed, my good deeds from my own pockets, Ghanaians are saying, if you want a genuine politician, who is philanthropic and has love and sympathy for his country, it is Hon Ken Agyapong,” he said amid cheers.

He added Ghanaians have tried lawyers, soldiers and other professionals as leaders and it is time to try a businessman.

He also took a swipe at super-delegates for the outcome of the August 26 elections, saying most of them including party chairmen and MPs were intimidated.
