Stephen Appiah “honoured” to announce NFL draft pick at Eagles’ watch party with Stonebwoy

Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, has expressed his excitement over his role as the first Ghanaian to live announce an NFL draft.

The announcement took place at a watch party hosted by the Philadelphia Eagles, which was held at the Bridgeview Resort in Akosombo.

Despite heavy rain, attendees enjoyed a screening of the 5th Dimension album and other hits by Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, as well as the announcement of the 249th pick of the NFL draft.

Appiah, who called out the pick live from Ghana, said he felt honored to be part of the historic night. “I call myself a lucky guy because we have a lot of celebrities in Ghana. So I ask myself, ‘why Stephen Appiah?’, there must be a reason.

“Me announcing on this historic night, makes me very happy. I am honored,” he said. Attendees also had a great time, with one describing the event as “awesome” and “fantastic.”

The Philadelphia Eagles are the first NFL team to have gone outside America and done a cross-continental announcement, in an effort to grow their African fans and community.
